Villa Montemaggio

Montemaggio is an antique cottage built in the 7h century......the exterior is original
but the inside has been completely rebuilt.
The cottage is surrounded the Chianti countryside, the nearest towns being Radda in
Chianti and Panzano in Chianti......7kms away, with shops, supermarkets and
restaurants.
The surrounding area is rich with small, characteristic villages where time seems to
have stopped in the medieval period with its fortified citadels surrounding walls.
Here you can find artisans’ shops and typical, Tuscan products.
The Montemaggio homestead is in the heart of the Chianti district on the Roman
road from Florence to Siena which dates back to 1560.
The name is derived from Monte Maggiore to indicate the elevated position of the
house. The farm extends over an area of 70 hectares, characterized by vineyards,
olive groves, woods and a vineyard of biological Chianti.
The villa seems to rise like an antique tower dominating the splendid hills.
It is possible to wander in the garden, surrounded by countless flowers and maybe
tasting some figs or blackberries, according the season. You can take a dip in the
pool on the hot, summer days, or decide to dedicate yourself to the very well
equipped gym to keep in form. You can take a nap in the shade, read a good book or
simply enjoy the quiet of nature.
One of the best characteristics of the villa is the biological kitchen garden. You can
take part in cooking courses, picking the fresh fruit and vegetables and tasting the
fresh picked strawberries .
The villa is wonderful for grownups but also for children, who have their tree-house
and a park full of games.
The house is situated inside the vineyard and an operational cellar. There wont be a
complete privacy of the entire 9H territory during the day.
During the week days there might be workers working around the cellar,
degustation rooms and often tourist visiting the estate To reach the house there is an
unpavedroad for three and a half kms.
